ISU players defend allegations against coaching staff

Idaho State University Senior Jayson Miller is accusing the football coaching staff of racism and abuse.

Miller says head coach Rob Phenicie hammer punched his shoulder during half time of the Cal Poly road game.

Plus, Miller accuses former safety’s coach Jay Staggs sent racist text messages to the team.

Four other ISU football players are speaking out and defending the coaching staff, claiming Miller’s allegations are false.

They say the hammer punch was the coach getting the players “fired up, and it was not a malicious hit.”

Players are also saying Coach Jay Staggs, was like family and that they never felt Staggs had a derogatory attitude or was racist toward the players.

Since then, 48 other players have stepped up in defense of the coaches.
