Saint Anthony Place dealing with bed bugs
The Saint Anthony Place apartments in Pocatello currently have some uninvited guests: bed bugs.
Several residents have been dealing with the bugs since December.
The building managers are aware of the problem and have sprayed the impacted apartments several times since the insects were noticed, but the impact seems limited.
SEICAA manages the building and issued a statement Wednesday saying:
“SEICAA takes pest control very seriously and acts immediately with professional pest control companies to eradicate/eliminate pests. However, because St. Anthony Place is an independent living facility, management has little control over tenant’s visitors who may inadvertently and unknowingly bring pests into the facility even after SEICAA management has done its due diligence by treating affected apartments. St. Anthony Place Management stresses the importance of reporting any pest concerns to its tenant on an ongoing basis so the appropriate actions may be taken.”
Several residents said they believed the infestation began when the building allowed a “homeless person” to live in one of the apartments.
