Senate approves funding for ISU Eames Complex

The Idaho Senate has passed legislation sponsored by Pocatello Democratic Senator Mark Nye that would allocate $10 million for vocational programs at Idaho State University. The bill won unanimous House approval last week.

The funding will be used to upgrade and remodel the Eames Complex on the ISU campus. The money was originally intended for renovations to the Gale Life Sciences Building.

Nye said the funding would pay dividends for years to come. He said vocational training is vital to the future of eastern Idaho and the entire state.

“The money we invest now will help produce hundreds of new skilled workers throughout the State,” Nye added. “With thousands of STEM-related jobs going unfilled every year in Idaho, we can’t afford not to invest.”

The bill now goes to Governor Brad Little for a signature.
