Local artist brings a new kind of art to Pocatello

One local artist has brought a new kind of art has come to Pocatello. The Marshall Public library is displaying computer-generated art produced by John Bickelhaupt.

The display features geometric shapes and patterns created by a specialized computer program through complex computer code. Bickelhaupt says he first got into interested in computer art after seeing the movie, “2001: A Space Odyssey.”

He became an artist, “Growing up in the 60s,” Bickelhaupt says. “I kind of see things in terms of patterns and that’s how I relate to the world… that’s how it makes sense to me.”

The display can be found on the second floor of the library and will be open to the public through the end of March.
