‘Parents Night Out’ event addresses internet risks for children

The Pocatello Police Department is hosting its monthly Parents Night Out event on Tuesday. This week’s topic of discussion is “Internet Safety” for children.

The presentation will be hosted by Shad Harris, a senior security consultant in Pocatello. Parents will learn about current internet trends, family internet safety and managing your digital identity.

Dianne Brush, Community Services Coordinator for the Pocatello Police Department says there are a lot of unknown risks that parents may be unaware of.

“There are some dangers with children using the internet,” said Brush. “They’re going to talk about ways to keep your child safe online, monitoring what your children are doing on the internet and ways to keep your own system, computers and cell phone secure.”

This event is free to the public and will be held at Outer Limits in Pocatello at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday. Children are welcome to play while parents attend the meeting.
