First Alert Forecaster Steve Cannon set to retire Friday
After being in the TV business for 42 years, First Alert forecaster Steve Cannon announced he will retire this Friday, March 1st.
Steve started his broadcasting career at then KID TV 3 in March 1977. He started off as a reporter and news anchor. In August 1977, he learned the fundamentals of forecasting the weather and has been doing it ever since.
KIDK Eyewitness News 3 will be sharing clips of Steve’s past weathercasts during newscasts this week. Former anchors and dignitaries will also pay tribute to him during the newscasts.
On Friday, March 1, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., a special reception will be held in his honor to allow viewers and friends to share his last day of forecasting the weather. The reception will be held at the Rose Shop, 615 First Street.

Challis Earthquake in 1983 The devastating fires in Yellowstone National Park in 1988 The Snake River flooding in 1997 A number of storms that produced hail, blizzards and tornadoes. Hosted the Primary Children’s telethons over the years.
