Man pleads not guilty to first-degree murder charges
The man accused of murdering Preston resident Wilden Lovin Jr. has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges.
35-year-old Marlin McQueen of Preston entered his plea Thursday in front of District Judge Mitchell Brown. He is accused in the January murder that occurred at Lovin’s residence.
Court documents indicate Wilden Lovin was stabbed twice in the back.
Friends of Lovin say McQueen was a homeless man that Lovin was helping.
A large number of Lovin’s family members were in the courtroom Thursday.
McQueen’s bond will be set at $1 million, and he will stand trial in July.
The prosecutor now has 60 days to decide whether or not to seek the death penalty in the case.
