Forest closes entire Teton Pass area to humans
The Bridger Teton National Forest is stepping up the temporary closure of Teton Pass to a new level.
The forest said it was closing the pass to human presence to allow WYDOT to do thorough avalanche control.
The temporary closure is necessary to provide WYDOT with a safe area, clear of any recreationists.
By doing that, the forest hopes the full threat to the area can be addressed to allow for safer passage between the Jackson Valley and Teton Valley, Idaho.
The closure will help assure that no one will get caught up in the targeted areas.
The closure is effective immediately and includes all of Trail Creek and Bridger-Teton National Forest to the top of the pass, on the Bridger Teton side in Wyoming. It will remain in effect until all avalanche mitigation activity is completed.
At this time, that is estimated at 12 a.m. Saturday, March 2.
