Utah city hit with 3 drinking water violations
An administrative order says officials in a Salt Lake City suburb did not report to Utah regulators fluoride levels in drinking water nearly 40 times the federal limit for 16 days.
The Deseret News reported Thursday that the Utah Division of Drinking Water also says Sandy city officials did not provide regulators with a written report on the contamination or proof its malfunctioning equipment is permanently shut down.
The details of the alleged violations were part of an administrative order issued to city officials on Monday and obtained by the Deseret News in a government records request.
Sandy issued a statement saying officials have been working closely with the Division of Environmental Quality and were prepared for the order.
Sandy is required to file a written response by March 9 and has 30 days to appeal.
