ISU’s Vice President of Advancement Kent Tingey announces plans to retire

Last week, Idaho State University’s VP of Advancement, Kent Tingey, announced his plans to retire at the end of December.

Tingey has spent 30 years with the university and stated that he felt it was time to move on.

But Tingey doesn’t know what he’ll do in retirement yet. He said that he might like to travel to Europe or Canada but has no set plans.

By announcing his plans to retire now, Tingey said, “this provides the opportunity for the President, Kevin Satterlee, to take a few months and search for a successor.”

A lot has changed at ISU during Tingey’s time but it’s the support for the university that stands out the most.

“From the general public to the legislature to the students, the overall support of this university increased,” Tingey said. “The overall recognition and brand and footprint of this university increased.”

One of Tingey’s proudest achievements is working to get the Stephens Performing Arts Center on campus.

“It was a $35 million project, which was an enormous project for us at the time, still is,” he said.

“Performer after performer after performer has come in and said this is the finest sound that we have anywhere,” Tingey said. “That was a lot of fun, but a lot of work too.”
