Technical Careers High School preps car to be donated to family in need
Technical Careers High School in Bonneville School District 93 is finishing up the last few touches on a car they will be donating to a family in need.
The high school works closely with Intermountain Auto Body Supply throughout the year. On Wednesday, the company asked the school if they could fix up an old car for a family that did not have one.
The collision repair and refinishing class was asked to paint the car and have it ready for delivery by Saturday.
Students came to school at 8 a.m. Thursday to get it stripped and ready to be painted.
“When (the students) heard the story and they heard what was going on, they were all on board,” said Todd Smith, an instructor. “I did not have to talk anyone into it, they were, like, wanting to work on it and were, like, ‘Let’s go.’ They wanted to be the first ones out here.”
Smith said the turnaround for a project like this is much quicker than what his students are used to; 10 students are involved in helping refurbish the car.
The class will work on putting the car back together Friday.
