Mud lake ambulance Super Saturday EMS conferences
Mud Lake held a Super Saturday to keep up and continue their basic EMT training and renew licenses. Mud Lake is a small town that doesn’t have a set station for medical emergency responders. Community members who have other jobs use their spare time to be on call in case of an emergency. To be eligible for this position they must be certified with some sort of medical emergency training. Most of the people who attended the meeting are going to be EMTs basic with modules. Idaho ems instructor, Dena Steadman has organized the conference in her town for eight years so, that locals would have a convenient way to be and stay certified. Steadman said, “I wanted to do this so that we would have responders in the rural area. This is an opportunity to gain more CEUs without having to travel long ways to get those hours of training. We have to have a certain amount of hours every two years for the national registry for the state if Idaho. So bringing it here is a way it will help local people get their hours without having to travel.” A few of Dena’s students took a test to receive their certification. As they wait for their results, they participated in the meeting to see what they can expect when they help the community.
