District 91 students show off creativity at art show

Idaho Falls School District 91 hosted a districtwide art show at Fox Hollow Elementary School on Saturday.

Each of the district’s elementary, middle and high schools put up 36 pieces of original artwork from their students to display in the show.

Two years ago, Idaho Falls School District 91 implemented dedicated time for art in elementary schools. Teachers say this was a way to show off the students’ work.

“A lot the elementary art, we started a program where we talked about the elements of art, which are the key to art, and so each school has representations of the lessons they did throughout the year,” said Christopher Hull, an art teacher in Idaho Falls School District 91. “It’s a huge variety: colors, shapes, line, texture, a lot of cool stuff.”

The district hopes that Saturday’s art show encourages more creativity among its students.
