Woman survives being buried in avalanche
A woman is being treated after she buried when an avalanche was triggered above her.
She was sitting on her snowmobile on the North side of Teton Pass in the Great White Hump area this afternoon. She was with friends who were skiing. They witnessed the avalanche carry her 450 feet down the mountain.
They tried to call for help, but could not get a signal right away. They were able to dig her out in time. She was breathing and talking afterwards. The Teton County Sheriff’s office and Search and Rescue showed up with a helicopter and medical crew. Teton Couny Sheriff Matt Carr says she was taken to Saint John’s Medical Center in Jackson Hole. She is expected to be released tonight.
