Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center opens Idaho’s first burn center

Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC) established the first burn center in the state of Idaho.

Adult and pediatric patients from a multi-state region including Wyoming, Montana and North Dakota can be treated at the center. Previously, the closest facilities were located in Denver, Salt Lake City and Seattle.

The center includes a 6-bed ICU for critically injured patients as well as an outpatient burn, trauma and wound clinic for ongoing treatment.

To open the burn center, EIRMC invested $3 million in renovations to various departments throughout the hospital, including the Emergency Room, Operating Room, Intensive Care Unit and outpatient clinic.

The hospital also invested an additional $2 million in new equipment and technology.

The Burn Center at EIRMC treats the following conditions:

All types of burns, including thermal, chemical, electrical, inhalation, friction burn/ road rash Frostbite Crush injuries Degloving injuries Diabetic wounds Fournier’s Gangrene Necrotizing Fasciitis Skin Sloughing Staphylococcal Scalded Skin Syndrome Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS)/ Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN)
