Ammon man charged after shooting

An Ammon man was arrested Saturday after admitting he shot his wife in the leg with a handgun.

The Ammon Division of the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 3100 block of Meadow Lane at around 6:34 a.m. Saturday on report of a gun shot wound. Deputies were advised that 23-year-old Andrew Wilson reported he shot his wife with a .22 caliber pistol.

When deputies arrived they found Wilson’s wife was suffering from a gunshot that apparently went through both of her legs. Deputies began first aid and lifesaving measures until ambulance personnel arrived. The woman was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Wilson told deputies he and his wife had been in an argument when he retrieved the hand gun and shot her. He then called 911 and put the gun in another room until deputies arrived.

Wilson was booked for felony domestic battery. Investigation into the incident is continuing.
