High Wind Watch for Friday

A strong front will move through the region on Friday, with gusty winds and scattered showers.

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued a High Wind

Watch, which is in effect from Friday afternoon through Friday

evening.

* IMPACTS/TIMING…Friday afternoon and evening, expect strong

winds to produce areas of blowing dust, which will reduce

visibility. Also high-profile and light vehicles will be hard to

control, particularly where a strong crosswind exists.

* WINDS…Sustained winds 35 to 40 mph with gusts 45 to 50 mph.

* LOCATIONS…Shoshone, Carey, Mud Lake, INL, Craters of the Moon,

Idaho Falls, Rexburg, St. Anthony, Pocatello, Blackfoot,

American Falls, Fort Hall, Malta, Rockland, and Burley.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous

high wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph, or gusts of

58 mph or stronger may occur. Continue to monitor the latest

forecasts.
