River & dam operations meeting set

As of this week, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) is forecasting runoff for the Snake River near Heise at 107% of average.

Jackson Lake is 77% of capacity and the lake is expected to fill in June, with some moderate demand for storage release expected over the summer.

BOR said there may be potential for flooding along the Snake River in Teton County, Wyoming. That would be caused by possible inflow from tributaries, which could be significant. Those tributaries may also experience flood level flows this spring and early summer.

The forecast is coordinated with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

BOR has scheduled a public meeting in Jackson to outline its forecasts and projected reservoir operations at Jackson Lake Dam and other Snake River reservoirs on May 23. It is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the 49er Inn conference room at 330 W. Pearl Street.
