2 local organizations recognized by American Heart Association
Two organizations that keep the hearts in our area beating were recognized by the American Heart Association Tuesday afternoon.
The AHA presented the Idaho Falls area with four Mission Lifeline awards, one for the Idaho Falls Fire Department’s EMS team and three for Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
The awards were given in recognition of their efforts in improving systems of care to rapidly identify suspected heart attack patients and promptly notify the medical center. EIRMC was also recognized for its quality care of stroke patients.
“Just a great achievement here for this hospital, this really shows that quality care is a priority here and it’s an awesome service that they are providing to the community and beyond,” said AHA’s Quality Systems Improvement Team member, Jessica Rosing.
According to a press release, every year more than 250,000 people experience an ST-elevation myocardial infarction, which is the deadliest type of heart attack caused by a blockage of blood flow to the heart, that requires timely treatment.
