Empty Bowls Fundraiser set for Friday

You can eat your meal out of a piece of art and support a good cause at the same time on Friday.

The Pocatello Arts Council will host the Empty Bowls Fundraiser for The Idaho Foodbank from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The bowls you get to choose to eat out of were painted by community members this summer at a Bowl Painting Party at the Portneuf Valley Farmer’s Market.

“Almost 15 percent of Bannock County’s residents are struggling with food insecurity, which is above the average of 1 in 8 individuals statewide,” said Jonna Boote, Development Coordinator for The Idaho Foodbank. “The Empty Bowls event is a wonderful way for people to engage with their local community and support their neighbors in need.”

At the fundraiser, the Pocatello Arts Council will honor Jason Bartosic as the Outstanding Performance Artist and Naomi Velazquez as the Outstanding Visual Artist for 2019. The night will also feature entertainment and raffles.

Admission is $15 per person. A cash bar will also be available.

The fundraiser will take place at Westside Players, 1009 S. 2nd Avenue.
