TSA to offer advance security registration
If you are one who frequently travels by air, you may be interested in a program being offered by the Idaho Falls Regional Airport (IFRA) in September.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is hosting enrollment in an expedited screening program. It begins on Monday, September 16 and runs through September 20. There is an $85 application fee to cover background checks and fingerprints, which can be completed at the application center. But, it allows travelers identified as “low-risk” to move through TSA security more quickly.
Those who are enrolled, for example, won’t have to remove things like shoes, light outerwear or belts when going through screening. They can also avoid having to remove 3-1-1 liquids or laptops. It applies in more than 200 U.S. airports.
“We are very excited to partner with the TSA to allow Idaho Falls residents to come down to the airport and enroll in this program,” said Rick Cloutier, IDA Airport Director. “Being enrolled makes flying much more convenient and really cuts down on the times you have to wait in line at security. Especially for people who fly a lot, or fly with family, this is a big timesaver and well worth the money.”
According to IFRA, the process to enroll begins online. Click on the words “Apply Now” to make an appointment to complete the enrollment process in-person at the Idaho Falls on-airport TSA Pre✓® application center. Applicants must bring a current U.S. passport or a driver’s license and certified copy of a birth certificate. Fingerprints will be collected during the in-person session.
