Mural of Old Town Idaho Falls is officially complete

Some Idaho Falls locals have been looking forward all summer long to check out the final masterpiece of the new mural in downtown Idaho Falls.

Well, that day has arrived.

The mural is painted on the side of Willow Tree Gallery in Idaho Falls.

The mural has been titled, Beginning of The Future.

The painting shows the history of Idaho Falls while including iconic imagery of the city that can still be found today. The mural includes the city’s railroad, a potato farmer, old Eagle Rock buildings and the iconic water tower.

Artist Dustin Lyon is excited to reveal his mural and to share the memories of Idaho Falls that made it the city that it is today.

“I’ve had a lot of people stop and ask me about the mural. Some of them remember the buildings that were here,” Lyon said. “They tell me stories about Idaho Falls back in the early days. So I think that’s been the most interesting part about this painting. Learning from those people who remember Idaho Falls as it was before.”

Lyon said after completing this mural, he is now going to focus on some smaller projects.

Next summer Idaho Falls Downtown Development will be holding another mural bid.

Lyon says he might try to do through his hat in the ring again next year.
