Learn how to properly install carseats on Saturday

Properly installing a car seat is no easy task; however, this weekend, the Pocatello Police Department can help you.

Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be assisting caregivers and parents properly install passenger seats in their vehicles on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Portneuf Valley Farmers Market. Safety Technicians will also be offering their advice on how to choose the safest seat for a child as they grow.

In 2017, 675 children 12 years old and younger died in vehicle crashes, and nearly 116,000 were injured, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That’s why this week is National Child Passenger Safety Week. This is a time to reflect on the children who have been killed in car accidents as well as to reevaluate car seats that may be improperly installed.

Residents who are unable to attend can call 208-234-6109 to schedule an appointment with a child passenger safety technician.
