Rexburg is once again named the safest city to live in Idaho
According to one survey, Rexburg is once again listed as the safest city in the Gem State.
Idaho is a great place to live if you love the outdoors, but there is one city in the state that stands out for being a prime location to live.
According to backgroundchecks.org, Rexburg is found to be the safest city to live.
“I have been living here for almost a year and I feel safe here because we are able to just go around the park and stuff and just never have to worry about anything, or anybody taking anything or worry about where your car is at or anything like that,” Rexburg resident Kaulen Buckley said.
Not having to worry about your property being taken was a large factor of how the survey determined Rexburg’s safety.
The survey looked at violent and property crime rates and found that Rexburg score was several times below the nationwide average.
Isaac Meldrum has lived in Rexburg for the past two years but has lived in the surrounding areas most of his life. He believes the people are what makes Rexburg so safe.
“I think these are some of the nicest people here on earth, honestly,” Meldrum said. “A lot of us were raised out here in the country. So I think there are a lot of values that come with that. Everyone knows how hard you work for what you have and people are willing to respect you and your space and I think it has to do with a lot of people’s religious beliefs around here.”
According to the survey, the Madison County community has expanded considerably in recent decades, thanks to an influx of member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jonathan Lopez says he did not intend to move to Rexburg but doing so has had happy results for him and his family.
“The only time I hear police sirens is when there is an accident. It’s really the perfect place to raise your kids. You can go and enjoy life,” Lopez said. “It’s very quiet and peaceful. They have a lot of events over here and it is very community-oriented. Truly a perfect place to live and raise your kids.”
