Moose poached near Mackay, officials seeking culprit
State wildlife managers say a moose was poached near Mackay, and they’re asking the public to share any information that may help find the poacher.
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game received multiple reports about the poached bull moose on Sunday and found the carcass left to waste near the Park Creek Campground. Only the antlers and a small amount of meat were removed.
Department conservation officer Steve Roberts said in a prepared statement that archery season is in full swing, and investigators are hoping that a hunter may have seen something or know something that will help solve the case. The department says tipsters can remain anonymous, and a reward is being offered for information that leads to the prosecution of the poacher. The amount of the reward was not disclosed.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Upper Snake Regional Office at 208-525-7290 or the Citizen’s Against Poaching hotline at 1-800-632-5999. Callers may remain anonymous and a reward is being offered for information that leads to the prosecution of this case.
