IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) – Longevity pays at Melaleuca, literally. This year's annual bonus payout was the largest it has ever been by more than $200,000.
This year, 230 Melaleuca employees reached landmark work anniversaries and were awarded a total of $3,431,489 in Longevity and Long-Term Contribution Bonuses.
These Longevity Bonuses are incentives and rewards for long-time employees. Those who have been with Melaleuca for five years receive $5,000, 10 years receive $10,000, 15 years of employment receive $15,000 and so on every five years. All employees are eligible for the bonus regardless of position. Years of employment is the only requirement.
This year, two team members received a $35,000 bonus for their 35 year anniversaries. Brandie Miller was one of those employees. Miller is one of the employees who has stayed with the company for the longest amount of time. She says her time at Melaleuca has been rewarding and flown by.
She reminisces on her first experience with Melaleuca and Executive Chairman Frank VanderSloot.
"I wanted to get a job there," Miller said. She went up to VanderSloot himself saying, "I will make Melaleuca my lifetime's commitment."
She started at Melaleuca the following work week.
She explains these Longevity Bonuses as very encouraging and a great way to set employees up for their future.
"I feel so blessed. So privileged to be a part of something and watch it grow and we've become so successful. And to just know that I've played a key role in that... It's just such a blessing," Miller said. "And then when these milestones come up every five years, it just is so real. How did I become a part of this?"
Miller plans to put her bonus into her 401(k) to set herself up for retirement.
