Wanted man now in custody following failed Fentanyl flush

 IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - Friday evening, Bonneville County Sheriff's Deputies caught a wanted man after he allegedly attempted to flush a fentanyl pill down the toilet. The man has been identified as 36-year-old Jason Cartier of Bonneville County.
The arrest was made near a manufactured home on Eden drive in Idaho Falls. According to Sheriff's Sgt. Bryan Lovell, deputies arrived on the scene after receiving a report that Cartier was at the home.
A resident pointed out the 36-year-old wanted man in the living room and Deputies began giving him verbal commands, but Cartier ran towards the back of the home and attempted to barricade himself inside the rear bathroom, according to Sheriff's reports.
Deputies reportedly forced their way through the bathroom door and caught the 36-year-old in the act of attempting to flush the fentanyl down the toilet. Sgt. Lovell reports that a Deputy was able to incapacitate Cartier with their taser and take him into custody.
Deputies found broken glass vial and a pill in the toilet that tested positive to the presence of Fentanyl.
The 36-year-old was taken to the hospital for a medical clearance before booked into to the Bonneville County Jail.
Cartier now faces charges on his outstanding warrant along with new charges for Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor charges of Destruction of Evidence and Resisting Arrest.
