Second year of BCSO Teen Career Camp kicks off

BONNEVILLE COUNTY, Idaho (KIFI) – The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office decided to bring back its free Teen Law Enforcement Career Camp for a second year.

The camp shows high schoolers who are interested in law enforcement what the profession is all about. That way they get a glimpse into what to expect before making the decision to become a deputy.

During the four day camp, teens can expect to learn team building skills, dive training, dealing with firearms and much more. They learn these skills both inside a classroom and in simulations. No teens actually go out with deputies on real calls.

They say there was so much demand last year they brought it back, but this time for two weeks in a row allowing two different groups of teens to participate.

The first group started on Monday and will complete their week on Thursday. The following group starts Monday, June 19, and carries through Thursday, June 22.

Because of continuous popular demand, BCSO plans to hold the camp again next year.
