Boise State students in isolation due to coronavirus worries

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Boise State University said Thursday that four students from South Korea participating in a school program are in self-isolation for 14 days in Boise.

The school in a statement said the students cleared a health screening for the new coronavirus after arriving in Seattle on Monday. The virus causes the disease called COVID-19.

Health officials say transmission of the virus is widespread and ongoing in South Korea, and U.S. officials have issued travel warnings for the country. The university said it has instituted procedures for self-isolating students visiting or returning from countries with such travel warnings.

School spokesman Greg Hahn said the four students are staying in an apartment in a complex owned by the university. He said they're able to take classes online.

State officials said no one in Idaho has so far tested positive for the virus, but it's only a matter of time and preparations are being made.
