Teton Geo Center: The starting point for your next Teton Valley Adventure

DRIGGS, Idaho (KIFI) - Located next to the Driggs City Hall on Main Street, the Teton Geo Center can serve as a leading off point for any tourist's or local's next adventure. The volunteers who help man the desk in the center are very knowledgeable about the area and can help them go on the right path.

"The biggest question that people ask me usually is like if they're tourists, they'll want to find out where there's a trail that they can go that's not very long and not very steep. So I tell them Moose Creek or Sheepridge," Geo Center volunteer Jene Benedict said.

Benedict is also a recreationist in the Teton Valley and helping at the museum allows her to continue to explore her home.

"It doesn't interrupt my recreational activities that I like to do because this is a good place to be if you want to do recreational activities," Benedict said.

The knowledge from the volunteers isn't the only way people can gain knowledge about the Teton Valley. A part of the center is a Museum that covers some of the rich history of the Valley.

Summer Tourism brings a lot of people into the Geo Center and as the summer tourism winds down before ski season, the number of visitors at the center also would down.

"Generally summertime is our busy is it's a very busy time, and wintertime when Targhee is open is a very, very, very busy time. And then then we have our slower seasons and it's not so busy," Benedict said.

The center also features many local artists and information that you might not have known before.

"It's very interesting. I mean, you learn a lot when you're here. It's nice," Benedict said.
