Bus driver recovering from brain bleed

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Idaho (KIFI) - UPDATE 9/29/23: A charter bus driver is recovering in the hospital after a brain bleed.

This is the same driver who left the Sandcreek Middle School volleyball team at the scene of a minor crash earlier this week.

On Wednesday evening, a Teton Stage charter bus cut a corner too sharply at the intersection of 2nd North and 3,700 East in Jefferson Vounty.

This caused part of the bus to straddle an irrigation canal.

Management at Teton Stage Lines now says the driver of the bus has been hospitalized and treated for bleeding in his brain which caused partial paralysis.

Preliminary reports indicate, "his condition was the primary cause of the driver’s actions."

After evacuating the bus and checking for injuries, the bus driver left the team stranded and returned to the Teton Stage Lines bus yard.

The Jefferson School District later sent a bus to pick-up the team and take them to Farnsworth Middle School.
