House fire caused $75,000 in damages
RIGBY, Idaho (KIFI) - The Central Fire District was dispatched to 571 N 4107 E for the report of a house fire Sunday at 10:07 p.m.
It was reported there were still people in the house, but upon arrival, firefighters found all the occupants were out of the home.
Firefighters were confronted with flames and smoke coming from a wall behind a pellet stove. The homeowner had partially pulled the pellet stove away from the wall and attempted to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters were able to knock the fire down and then had to remove the back side of the wall to extinguish fire hidden in the wall. Firefighters also had to access the attic space and the outside soffit and fascia to check for fire extension.
The fire was contained to one room in the house, and there was some minor smoke extension throughout the house.
The Central Fire District said there were no injuries sustained at this fire.
The homeowner was monitored for smoke inhalation but denied ambulance transport.
Officials estimated damage to the home is approximately $75,000.
The Central Fire District suggests all homeowners should consider regular cleaning and inspection of furnaces, fireplaces and stoves as the cold weather is coming our way.
