Officials: Ethiopia’s Tigray forces kill some 120 civilians

KIFI

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — Local officials in Ethiopia allege that Tigray forces have killed more than 120 civilians in recent days following battlefield losses, in what would be one of the deadliest massacres of the country’s 10-month war. The administrator for the Dabat district in Ethiopia’s northern Amhara region tells The Associated Press that 123 bodies have been recovered and more are expected to be found. The Tigray forces in a statement deny the allegations that they killed civilians. The United Nations, the United States and others are pressing for an immediate cease-fire and talks to end a war that has killed thousands of people in Africa’s second-most populous country.
