Moderate quake shakes southern Turkey, no damage reported
ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkey disaster management authority says a moderately-strong earthquake has shaken the southern Turkish province of Osmaniye. There are no immediate reports of any damage or casualties. The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate, AFAD, says the magnitude 5.1 quake struck at 6:48 p.m. (15:48 GMT) on Tuesday and was centered in the district of Duzici. It was felt in neighboring provinces. Gov. Erdinc Yilmaz of Osmaniye tells the state-run news agency, Anadolu, that his office has not received any “negative report” concerning damage or injury, adding emergency teams are still working to identify possible damage. Turkey sits on top of major fault lines and earthquakes are frequent.
