LONDON (AP) — British media says the husband of former Scottish first minister and Scottish National Party leader Nicola Sturgeon has been released without charges after being arrested in a party finance probe. Police in Scotland didn’t identify Peter Murrell as the 58-year old man arrested Wednesday in connection with the ongoing investigation. Britain’s Press Association, the BBC and others reported it was Murrell. Scottish police have been investigating how 600,000 pounds ($750,000) earmarked for a Scottish independence campaign was spent. Murrell resigned as the party’s chief executive last month. A spokesperson for Sturgeon says she had no prior knowledge of the arrest and would cooperate with the probe if required.
