Germany arrests a citizen who is accused of trying to spy for Russia
BERLIN (AP) — Germany has arrested a German citizen on allegations that he tried to spy for Russia. The federal prosecutor’s office says the suspect — identified only as Thomas H., in line with the country’s privacy rules — works for the German military. He is employed in the army’s office for equipment, information technology and in-service support. He began approaching the Russian Consulate in the western city of Bonn and the Russian Embassy in Berlin on several occasions, starting in May, on his own initiative and offered to cooperate with them. Authorities say the man was arrested on Wednesday at his home in the western city of Koblenz, and his apartment and workplace were searched.
