Colin Meloy of The Decemberists working on first novel for adults, scheduled for 2025
NEW YORK (AP) — The Decemberists’ frontman Colin Meloy is now writing a novel for adults after already becoming a popular children’s author. G.P. Putnam’s Sons announced Thursday that Meloy’s book is scheduled for 2025 and has the working title “Cascadia.” It features a protagonist named Barnaby Chambers. He sells discarded baby membrane tissue and is otherwise contending with artificial intelligence, climate change and falling birth rates. Meloy says in a statement that the story of Barnaby Chambers in a near-future Oregon wrecked by climate crises and hypercapitalism is one he has wanted to tell for a very long time.
