PARIS (AP) — Thousands of pro-Palestinian demonstrators demanding an immediate halt to Israel’s bombardment of Gaza have marched in Paris, Berlin and other European cities. Police were on the lookout for violence, antisemitic behavior or support for Islamic extremism at the rallies on Saturday. At a Paris march that drew several thousand, demonstrators called for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza and some shouted “Israel, assassin!” In central London, streets were blocked by protesters chanting, “cease-fire now” and “I believe that we will win.” Berlin mobilized around 1,000 police officers to ensure order after previous pro-Palestinian protests turned violent. There were also rallies in Italy and Romania.
