The family of an Arizona professor killed on campus reaches multimillion-dollar deal with the school
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — The family of a University of Arizona professor who was fatally shot on campus in October 2022 says it has reached a multimillion-dollar agreement with the school. A statement by the law firm representing the wife and sons of professor Thomas Meixner says the family agreed not to sue the university in exchange for an unspecified amount of money. The family earlier filed a claim as a precursor to a lawsuit, seeking $9 million. Police later arrested a 46-year-old former graduate student who had been expelled for threatening professors including Meixner. Murad Dervish faces a first-degree murder charge when he goes on trial later this year.
