School District 25 decides against mask mandate

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) - The Pocatello-Chubbuck District 25 Board of Trustees held a special meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 5:30 p.m.

At the meeting, the Board of Trustees took action to adopt the Roadmap for the Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services for the 2021-2022 School Year.

The Board said they continue to prioritize in-person learning and recommends masks but leaves the decision optional for families to choose.

The decision came after they received a complaint saying their previous decision that included a mask mandate was in violation of the Idaho Open Meeting law. In response, the board voted unanimously on Sept. 24 to rescind the mask mandate and revisit the situation.

The mask mandate was set to go into effect on Sept. 27.
