ISU students gather winter coats for PCSD25

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) - A group of students at Idaho State University are putting together a coat drive for Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25.

The coat drive is being put on by the ISU Psychology Grad Student Association. As of Thursday, they've collected just about 30 coats for the students.

Sierra Baca, the president of the PGSA, says the drive was inspired by what she saw dropping her son off for school.

"In 2020, children at my son's bus stop didn't have any coats," Baca said. "They were wrapped in blankets getting on the bus. And so we really wanted to have a coat drive for them. But then COVID happens, so we weren't able to do it. So now as president, I was able to reinstate it and get a coat drive going."

They've talked about expanding the days of the coat drive until Friday, Nov. 10, just to get as many coats for the students as possible.

The group is collecting everything from coats to scarfs and hats in all sizes.

If you want to donate, you can drop off your new or used winter gear at a drop off box on the fourth floor of the Garrison Hall or Reed Gym.
