Junkyard of Terror ready for scare season
RIGBY, Idaho (KIFI) - Screams are echoing across eastern Idaho, due to a new haunted attraction in Rigby.
The Junkyard of Terror is opening its doors to the public for the first time tonight. Owner and manager Adam Boone and his business partner Derek Ricks came up with the idea after opening a successful escape room in the old Intermountain Auto Supply building in Rigby last year.
“Derek he used to really like to hide behind dark corners and scare people at really inappropriate times,” Boone said. “So once everyone was out of this building and it was just empty we thought let's do something here.”
But the two didn’t want to do a traditional haunted house with vampires, goblins, or mummies. Instead, they turned the natural setting of the building into a two-story haunting with some familiar scenery.
“Now we tried hard to stick with the junkyard theme,” Boone said. “It has a natural creepy feel.”
Some of the junkyard's top attractions include an auto shop with mad mechanics, a crawl space for visitors to try to escape in, a bus full of spooks, and a clown room.
“You can see the dual meaning of the word body,” Boone said.
In addition to the scary rooms and atmosphere, the Junkyard introduces visitors to five new horrifying characters who interact with anyone brave enough to come near them.
According to Boone, The Junyard of Terror is a PG-13 experience. But even if some kids are too scared with mom or dad by their side, there will be a safe hangout with cornhole and campfires for people to hang out.
The Junkyard of Terror opens tonight at 7:30 pm or once it gets dark enough.
Tickets are $10 tonight only.
