3 things to know this morning – January 11, 2024
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - Here's what you should know to start your Thursday.
1. The report of a possible police impersonator in Chubbuck and Pocatello was a false report. 22-year-old Micah Naumu has been charged for providing false information. Chubbuck Police also confirmed that the second report they received, of an alleged attempted traffic stop by a possible police impersonator, actually involved an officer. They say he was conducting official police duties.
2. Christopher Tapp's death is now being investigated as a murder. The Las Vegas Metro Police department says there was a fight inside Tapp's hotel room the night he died. The Clark County Coroner's Office has since ruled the 47-year-old's death a murder as a result of blunt force trauma to the head.
3. Artificial intelligence is up for discussion this session in the Idaho Legislature. House Bill 382 would amend Idaho laws to make AI generated images of children to be considered as sexual exploitation of a child. The legislation would also set penalties for the crime including minimum and maximum terms in prison.
