HOUSTON, Texas (KIFI) — As NASA enters the next phase of space exploration and innovation, the agency is set to announce the four-person astronaut crew assigned to the historic Artemis III test flight.

Today, NASA will provide an official update on mission progress and introduce the designated flight crew during a live broadcast from the Johnson Space Center in Houston. Watch the live announcement in the player below at 9:30 a.m. MT on Tuesday, June 9.

Building on the monumental success of the Artemis II lunar flyby completed in April, Artemis III is set to launch in late 2027 aboard the Orion spacecraft atop the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The Artemis II mission saw humanity travel deeper into space than ever before in a lunar flyby, marking the first human return to lunar orbit in over 50 years. The mission stands as a pivotal milestone in humanity's quest to establish a long-term presence on the Moon and a step towards the first crewed mission to Mars.
