Utah governor issues proclamation in support of Pride Month
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah’s Republican governor has issued a proclamation in support of LGBTQ Pride Month.
Fox 13 reports Gov. Spencer Cox appears to be the first Utah governor to issue such a proclamation.
He has been known for his compassionate stances toward LGBTQ people.
The proclamation says June is LGBTQ Pride Month and encourages people to have conversations about what it means to love each other and to support LGBTQ friends and family members.
It also says there are higher levels of mental health challenges for members of the LGBTQ community who aren’t accepted and encourages Utah to foster a climate of inclusion.
