Chukars hold on to their lead to open home stand with a 5-4 victory

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - The Idaho Falls Chukars narrowly escaped a comeback bid by the Grand Junction Rockies Tuesday, as the Chuks held on to a late 5-4 lead to open a six-game home stand with a victory.

After a pair of scoreless frames defensively, the Chukars got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single from Brady West for a 1-0 lead.

In the third, the bats stayed hot as the Chuks scored four runs in the inning, three of them on one swing by Calvin Estrada. With the bases loaded, Estrada cleared the bags with a three-run double to center field.

The Rockies came back to make it close, but Idaho Falls was victorious 5-4.

Next up, game two of the six-game set is Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. back at Melaleuca Field.
