Donated school supplies delivered
Monday is delivery day for all the donated school supplies brought to the Eastern Idaho State Fair by KIDK Eyewitness News 3 and Fox 5 East Idaho viewers.
“Somehow, we got all your school supplies loaded in this car, up in the front, as well. But that’s full. Come with me real fast. Look in here. Nobody can set in there. That’s full,” said KIDK Eyewitness News 3 anchor Todd Kunz Monday morning, as he and a few other people were loading a news car.
Kunz and promotions producer Shilo Loree then drove to Arco Elementary School in Arco, Idaho.
School office staff tells KIDK Eyewitness News 3 that they have 225 students in preschool through sixth-grades and 12 teachers. So the extra supplies will certainly be used well.
Kunz employed some of the third- and fourth-grade students to help unload the car.
“It will make parents and kids not have to worry about how they’re going to do their homework when they go home at night. It will help them so when they get prepared for the next day, they are not worrying about where they are going to find pencils, pens, things like that, that a lot of people take for granted. And we’d like to thank our good friends who came to the fair, people who donated. We’re grateful for that generosity and the example of good neighbors that our kids can see by these donations,” said Joel Wilson, superintendent of Arco School District #111 and principal of Arco Elementary.
“Thank you Eastern Idaho!” yelled the students as Kunz and Loree were set to leave.
KIDK Eyewitness News 3 and Fox 5 East Idaho would also like to say thank you to all the viewers in Eastern Idaho and western Wyoming who donated school supplies at the Eastern Idaho State Fair for 2019.
