EIRMC gets a new helipad

IDAHO FALLS ID- (KIFI) - Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center is excited to celebrate its new helipad expansion.

The hospital has always had two pads, and now they have three. The need for a third launchpad came after an incident where all three helicopters were life-flighted to the hospital at once, and the third helicopter had to land on the grass.

Experts at EIRMC say the expansion project improves trauma care for the region.

"Essentially, we were receiving so many flights of patients coming in from regionally that we needed another place to land. I think it's just important to recognize the fact that Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center has committed such excellence to pediatric, cardiac burn, stroke, and trauma care that they've become a regional referral center for all of those specialties," said Michael Lemon Trauma Medical Director at EIRMC.
