Thunder Ridge pulls away to beat Idaho Falls 48-13

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) – The Thunder Ridge Titans defeated the Idaho Falls Tigers 48-13 in a matchup at Ravsten Stadium.

Holding a 14-7 lead late in the second quarter, Thunder Ridge pulled away with a dominant sequence on defense, offense and special teams just before halftime.

With Thunder Ridge threatening while leading 14-7, Idaho Falls linebacker Johnny Pyper brought pressure in the backfield to force a quick pass from Titans quarterback Ryder Portmann. Kenyon Spencer provided coverage for Idaho Falls on the play, forcing Thunder Ridge to settle for a field goal that pushed the lead to 17-7.

Thunder Ridge quickly responded on both sides of the ball. On the next drive, Idaho Falls player Will Thompson avoided an initial wave of pass rushers before Mckay Scoresby brought him down for a sack. After forcing a punt, Portmann kept the ball himself on a quarterback run behind Scoresby, who led him all the way inside the 5-yard line. The Titans punched in a touchdown a few plays later to extend the advantage to 24-7.

Scoresby made another major play just moments before halftime. As Idaho Falls lined up to punt, Scoresby broke through the line to block the kick, scooped up the ball and returned it for a touchdown.

The Tigers will take on Pocatello next week, and Thunder Ridge will match-up against Skyline.
