Blackfoot Broncos defeat Idaho Falls Tigers 32-21 to move to 3-2

BLACKFOOT, Idaho (KIFI) – The Blackfoot Broncos defeated the Idaho Falls Tigers 32-21 Friday night. The first half saw back-and-forth drives from both teams, and 2 big defensive stops, one from each side.

Idaho Falls fell behind 6-0 in the first quarter before Jack Harris broke off a long touchdown run. Following the extra point, the Tigers took an early 7-6 lead.

Blackfoot responded on the following drive when Parker Wright took a handoff for a large gain into the red zone. Wright finished the drive by fighting through contact for a touchdown down near the goal line. The Broncos were unable to convert the two-point try, so the score stayed at 12-7.

On the Tiger's next drive, they continued the offensive back-and-forth by converting a fourth-and-1 situation near midfield, with quarterback Will Thompson taking the ball himself. Later on the same drive, the Tigers faced a fourth-and-6, but Thompson was unable to find an open receiver, allowing Blackfoot to take over on downs.

After Blackfoot's offense took over, they worked their way down into the red zone. On a third down, Bronco quarterback Ledger Baldwin tried to find Briggs Esplin in the end zone, but Tiger defensive back Everett Erickson made a great play on the ball to force an incompletion. On fourth down, Baldwin went for Esplin again. This time, the ball was too high, and the Idaho Falls defense took over on downs. The Bengals would then cash that turnover into points moments later to take a 13-12 lead.

Blackfoot walks away with the 32-21 win, jumping to 3-2 on the season. They are now 2-1 in conference play this year. They will take on the Thunder Ridge Titans next. With the loss, Idaho Falls drops to 2-3, and they are now 1-1 in conference play. Their game will be the Emotion Bowl against Skyline next Saturday, October 3rd, at Ravsten Stadium.
